LNA-based microRNA in situ hybridization services
MicroRNA in situ hybridization is a challenging technology that requires thorough assay optimization for individual tissues, specific best-performance detection probes and careful interpretation of staining results. Bioneer now offers In Situ Hybridization (ISH) services for detection of microRNA in human and mouse tissue samples. The Bioneer ISH service is recognized as an Exiqon Center of Excellence (COE) and holds a license from Exiqon to employ high affinity LNA™ detection probes. Our automated high through-put ISH application engages a Tecan system and a Visiopharm microscopy analysis system.
The success of any ISH experiment is strongly dependent on the quality of the tissue samples. Bioneer’s ISH service facility accepts best standard formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples and frozen samples (OCT-embedded) upon agreement. We prefer to receive the tissue blocks since this provides the basis for us to control each step in the whole ISH procedure and gives you the best chance of a successful ISH experiment. We will return your samples together with all your slides after the conclusion of the project or at any time at your request.
miR-21 and alpha-actin
miR-21 expression in cancer-associated fibroblasts has been observed in colon, breast and lung cancer. Most cancer associated fibroblasts express a-smooth muscle actin and are named myofibroblasts. In this image co-expression of miR-21 (green) and a-smooth muscle actin (red) is seen in breast cancer myofibroblasts. Counterstain: DAPI.
